so guess what was my reply?
"if i had a choice, i'd rather not be born. but since i'm here, i guess i want to be some sort of overseas correspondant. travel the world and the seven seas, do humanitarian work. magnify the suffering in this world, make the privilged aware."
(i'm not surprised by my answer. it's a merger of one teenhood thought and another young adult drive.)
and that prompted the question, "why wouldn't you want to be born?"
philosophical. the usual me.
i guess, the only flimsy string that i can entwine myself in now is this-
the world is my oyster. self, hold this close. and remember. you must.
yes, i must.
and self, it would also do you a whole lot of good if you rid yourself of that streak of disappointed idealism a la Martha Cochrane.
so get going. work on it.
the world is my oyster, still.
