finally, last day of term 1. mr ling is kind. he didn't arrange any relief periods for me, although my time table today is EMPTY. woah! i am truly grateful for that. especially when i saw that some of those NIE practicum teachers received those relief slips.

gonna exploit an admin loophole and leave school at 1230. 1300 latest.
then it'll be to jan's place before i head home. am thinking of taking a nap before i make my way to Giant to buy the BBQ stuff.

anyway, i have this qualm that i must voice.
Kudos to Lee Ang, the first Asian to be awarded Best Director at the Oscars! I watched Brokeback Mountain (yes i did! at Cine. ask me how!) and I was blown away by its nuance. and i enjoyed the varied pacing of the film.

but please, it's Lee Ang. not Ang Lee.
when in Rome, do as the Romans do. He's Chinese, so please respect the Chinese formality of family name before given name. i wonder when we'll stop allowing Western practice to erode a rich culture that goes back 10, 000 years.

in any case, if i have my way, we'll all write our names the way Filipinos do. for eg., my friend, Callanta Martha Veronica Norva. this is her official name. Callanta is her dad's family name. Martha Veronica is her given name while Norva is her mum's maiden name.

Asian practice preserved. Equality of sexes achieved.
